“Colchicums in the meadows are blooming, blooming….”

September 19th-They reappeared this morning, in front of the kitchen, my little yellow dancers. And tonight, we’ll need our duvet. The freshness has arrived so quickly. Already another summer that is slipping away like those pretty songs from our childhood that will never come back…. But to hell with nostalgia, let’s enjoy the present moment.

“Colchicums in the meadows are blooming, blooming….”

This evening while paying for my milk I hummed the words to Manon and she looked at me in a funny way. Manon is cute and above all she is polite, but her look said it all: What is she singing to me here? I hope it won’t last too long, I have 42 cows to milk!

It’s okay Manon, I’ll leave you to it and I’ll go back and make my cheese.

With cooler days finally here, we put our shoes back on and back to work outside and THAT is such a joy! There is so much to do but also so much to walk around for, look at, smell, smile….and let nature take over it all if that’s what it wants to do.

Go see if the pears are ready. The huge quinces are turning yellow. The few peaches left are put in jars with a little Campari. Delicious. Dried tomatoes, plums and figs are labelled and stored.

We’d almost have a fire in the fireplace just for the pleasure. Bugs are coming into the house for the winter and they are everywhere. The flies don’t really know yet whether they’re coming or going.

“Colchicums in the meadows are blooming, blooming….”

A young blue tit came in by mistake and banged itself against the window. Once snuggled in my warm hands it calmed down and when under the elm I gently opened my palms after a few minutes, it was in no hurry at all to go and find its mates.

Speaking of mates, with young people returning to school, a young woman near us who couldn’t wear her long black dress (Government decree), showed up to class in a kimono. Well done her!

It’s official, Poland will no longer provide weapons to Zelensky…

In Canada since August 27, 2023 “If a person fails to submit to the vaccination covered by an order given under section 123, any judge of the court of Quebec or of the municipal courts of the cities of Montreal, Laval or Quebec, having jurisdiction in the locality where this person is located, may order him to comply. » www.legisquebec.govqc.ca

In England, Chris Packam, a passionate climate activist, asks the question: Since peaceful protests don’t work, is it time to break the law? For my friend Martin, the climate issue is a false path. Like COVID, this climate issue was created to generate fear, helplessness and control of populations on a global level…

I’m off to plant some lettuces right away.

“Colchicums in the meadows are blooming, blooming….

Colchicums in the meadows, it’s the end of summer.”
